12 Feb Three Valentine’s Day Nesting Party Ideas for Geeks
Last year for Valentines, I wrote a post titled A Geeky Valentine’s Day: Five Ways to Celebrate with Your Significant Other. In that post, I listed some geek-centric activities you could do with your player 2. Or player 1. As far as activities go, this list is pretty much the same, with the addition of two new video games to try (see below). This year, I wanted to focus on the idea of a nesting party and combine that with geek-centric activities.
So let’s explore more ways to get geeked with your Valentine.
Wait, did that even come off right? ‘Get geeked’? Maybe let’s try that again.
This year, let’s explore more ideas for fun and sweet ways to spend with your Valentine. For geeks. Always for geeks.
There, that’s better!
While browsing Pinterest, I came across this new trend taking hold in 2025 – the nesting party. Now, while Pinterest specifically talks about nesting parties for new parents, I liked the idea of nesting parties for Valentines.
What do I mean by that? Well, let’s first get acquainted with the term.
What is a nesting party?
A nesting party is a warm and cozy get-together designed to create a comfy environment for activities, entertainment, and good company in a small and intimate safe space. Guests can chat, eat, and enjoy other casual no-pressure activities.
The reason this applies to those who are expecting little ones is because the word nesting, or “to nest’ like a bird, describes the urge to make the home as comfortable and cozy as possible for the new baby.
However, nesting also implies a general sense of relaxation and self-care, which is why I thought this idea was perfect for your next Valentines evening in, or any other plans for a geek-get-together.
Hear me out…
Valentine’s Day Trends for 2025
This year, Valentine’s Day gifts and activities are trending to be more personalized and based on experience rather than giving or receiving any one item or object. We are also becoming more inclusive of our celebrations so that friends and loved ones without a player two don’t feel left out of the day’s festivities. This got me thinking of how we could combine this concept of a nesting party with experiences and inclusivity to make an epic geeky Valentine’s Day.
Geeks love a theme, don’t we? And geeky gamers have also fallen in love with the cozy game genre and made it into an entire gamer aesthetic. So the thought of hosting a personalized get-together with your closest geeky friends in a casual comfy and inviting space is exactly the kind of thing that defines the geek aesthetic!
Three Valentine’s Day Nesting Party Ideas for Geeks
Who says being a geek isn’t trendy? If nesting parties are in this year, then geeks are on board for a sweet and cozy evening with friends and loved-ones.
Host a Fandom-Inspired Nesting Party
I used ‘party’ pretty loosely here because this isn’t supposed to be your typical party. Instead imagine a themed party with warm drinks like hot chocolate or flavored tea. Now add some war blankets and low-lights in the form of floating candles or dimmed lamps. You can even add pillows and fuzzy socks for a more relaxed vibe and invite your guests to settle in for an evening of chill geek vibes. If you use decorations in your favorite fandom – like Harry Potter place settings, Star Wars coasters, or Doctor Who mugs – you can relax and converse about all the geek stuff you want.
You can do nothing but enjoy the calm atmosphere. But if you want some form of geek entertainment, think about trying a fantasy or sci-fi audiobook listening party, or even a cozy game night (video or board games). The point is to keep it casual, relaxed, and warm.
Cozy Comics and Collectibles Nesting Party
As a geek, I love it most when I’m surrounded with my collections and like-minded geeks. It doesn’t matter what fandom they prefer – just being among my people makes me happy. It’s why conventions are so much fun! So why not host a cozy convention while surrounding yourself and your guests with things they love.
It can be trading or showing off action figures and Funko Pops, or any other collectibles we hold dear. It reminds me of show-and-tell, but for grown geeks. Better yet – what about a comic book club where you fill your living room with geeky pillows, blankets, and other decorations, play some soft lo-fi geek tunes, and read your favorite comic books.
If you happen to have a group of friends who love the same franchise, like Marvel or DC, you can easily have everyone bring their favorite comic from that franchise. I would advise not letting anyone handle your valuable comics, but geeks who know will understand how to treat someone else’s books.
Cozy Movie Marathon for a Geeky Nesting Party
Being the Star Wars fan that I am, nothing says love like watching Anakin Skywalker transition from sweet kids to badass Jedi to even badassier Sith Lord.
Sorry, I am definitely team Sith.
So the thought of home-made snacks, dim lights, huge blankets and comfy pajamas while watching every episode of early Star Wars until I fall asleep is the best kind of comfort food for the eyes.
Too much? Did I not say I was a Star Wars fangirl (the non-toxic kind)? We do too much every time the topic of the galaxy far, far away comes up.
Whatever fandom you prefer – make it a cozy movie marathon for a perfect nesting watch party.
Nesting Parties for Cozy Geeky Gatherings
I really wasn’t sure about this trend when I saw it online. The internet emphasis on baby showers threw me for a loop. But I have to admit that the more I think about it, the more I love the appeal of a quiet and intimate gathering. I have never really been a fan of large groups or loud and crowded spaces (#socialanxiety); so the thought of a low-key, low-pressure, high-cozy space to just exist with people I’m most comfortable around sounds like the perfect way to celebrate a holiday that should always allow for loving what you love in a space that feels good.
Oh! And if you’re still not sold on the gathering part of this idea; or if you prefer to spend the day with your one and only player two, then take these ideas and apply them to a more cozy romantic setting for just the two of you. Either way, you’re still nesting and you’re still celebrating a Geeky Valentine’s Day.
Bonus: Two new Video Games for this Valentine’s Day
If you love the idea of video games with your player partner, here are two more co-op cozy (and maybe a bit chaotic) to add to last year’s list for you to try. The first game hubs and I are trying this year is Degrees of Separation by Moondrop Studios available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One. Another video game we have been eagerly awaiting from the same studio that made It Takes Two is Split Fiction by Hazelight Studios. Try these out if you’re planning a Valentine’s Game Night.
I’d love to explore this trend more later this year with more ideas for cozy and geek-gatherings. What do you think? Is this something you’d come back to read? Let me know in the comments below, and let me know how your Valentine’s Day nesting party for geeks goes!
While you’re here, don’t forget to pin this and share with all your geeky friends!
